Submission Overview¶
When submitting data and metadata to the BSC Dataverse, it's important to ensure that all fields are correctly filled out and aligned with the appropriate standards. All metadata fields in the BSC Dataverse are created following best practices from the Dataverse Community and have been designed to support various domains:
- Citation Metadata: Compliant with DDI Lite, DDI 2.5 Codebook, DataCite 4.0, and Dublin Core’s DCMI Metadata Terms. The Language field uses the ISO 639-1 controlled vocabulary.
- Geospatial Metadata: Compliant with DDI Lite, DDI 2.5 Codebook, DataCite 4.0, and Dublin Core. The Country/Nation field uses the ISO 3166-1 controlled vocabulary.
- Social Science & Humanities Metadata: Compliant with DDI Lite, DDI 2.5 Codebook, and Dublin Core.
- Astronomy and Astrophysics Metadata: This metadata can be mapped/exported to the International Virtual Observatory Alliance’s (IVOA) VOResource Schema format, based on Virtual Observatory (VO) Discovery and Provenance Metadata.
- Life Sciences Metadata: Based on the ISA-Tab Specification, with controlled vocabulary from subsets of the OBI Ontology and the NCBI Taxonomy for Organisms.
- Journal Metadata: Based on the Journal Archiving and Interchange Tag Set, version 1.2.
⚠️ By default, the Citation Metadata schema is selected information for all datasets registered in the BSC Dataverse. However, this can vary depending on each Department dataverse. If you are unfamiliar with the vocabularies required for specific fields, your Dataverse Steward can guide you.
