📦 Request a New OpenStack Project

Requesting a new OpenStack project through DM-Hub is straightforward. Follow this step-by-step guide to submit your petition for a project with custom compute, storage, and user configuration.

🧭 Step-by-Step Guide

1. Log into DM-Hub

Access the DM-Hub platform:

2. Navigate to "My Petitions"

Once logged in, select My Petitions from the sidebar. Here you can:

  • View existing and past petitions
  • Submit new service requests

3. Click on "Request a New Petition"

At the top, click the tab labeled Request a new petition.

4. Select Petition Type: New OpenStack Project

Under the OpenStack section, choose:

  • ✅ New OpenStack Project

Then click Continue.

5. Fill Out the Request Form

You will now see the New OpenStack Project Form. Fill in the fields as follows:

🔹 Required Fields

  • Principal Investigator Username
    Example: bsc0123

  • Project Name
    Enter the name for the OpenStack project.

  • Project Description
    Provide a brief summary of the project’s purpose and scope.

  • List of Usernames to Add
    Provide BSC usernames separated by commas.
    Example: bsc0123, bsc0234, bsc0456

  • Instances Amount
    Total number of virtual instances requested.
    Example: 2

  • Cores Amount
    Number of CPU cores.
    Example: 8

  • RAM Quota (GB)
    Memory allocated to the project.
    Example: 32

  • Disk Quota (GB)
    Total storage requested.
    Example: 100

  • Floating IPs (max 2)
    Indicate how many floating IPs you need (maximum is 2).
    Example: 1

  • End Date of the Project
    Specify the project’s end date in dd/mm/yyyy format.
    Example: 04/07/2025

🔸 Optional Fields

  • Backup (GB)
    Storage for backups.
    Example: 10

  • Object Storage (GB)
    S3-style object storage.
    Example: 50

  • Other (optional)
    Additional context or specific needs for your project.

6. Submit Your Petition

After reviewing all fields, click Submit.

📨 You will receive a confirmation email once your petition is submitted.

7. Wait for Petition Review

The BSC Data Management team will review your request. You’ll be notified via email once it's approved or rejected.

  • ✅ If approved: You’ll receive access to the OpenStack project.
  • ❌ If rejected: The email will explain why and provide next steps.
